All About James Hardie Siding

This weeks post will be, All About Jame Hardie siding.

There are many reasons Hardie products have become a staple to home builders across America. First and foremost, they have a 100% warranty, if anything goes wrong they will fix it. The warranty lasts 15 years on the paint, and 30 years on the product itself, so when you build a home with Hardie Siding, you’re building it to last or your money back!

Additionally their products tend to require far less maintenance than the other brand and also unlike other brand have a tendency to be bug and bird free! Siding is exposed to Mother Nature all day, every day, for years. Weather, water, time, fire and pests—all can lead to trouble. That’s why James Hardie’s hardworking products are engineered to stand up beautifully, whatever the elements.

Not only are their products durable, they’re also incredibly stylized. Their products have a wide selection of styles and colors to fit any home style that you could possibly be trying to achieve. Their large variety of siding options makes creating the home from your dreams a possibility.  To take a look at their product catalog, visit the James Hardie website and fill out the form to receive their free catalog. James Hardie’s exclusive ColorPlus® Technology provides color that will last longer than a typical paint job. They have a large selection of pre-finished colors that have been chosen by experts to help make finding the perfect color choice for your home a breeze. They have created a palette of colors that are sure bets. If you’d like to view their color palette and some of their tips on choosing a color for your home, visit their ‘Live Colorfully‘ page.

James Hardie® products are used by over 5.5 million homes across America. Their products have not only won over Regency Home’s hearts, but the hearts of the remodeling industry, the press, and their customers with their quality products.

Remodeling Magazine annually compares average cost vs value for 36 popular remodeling projects with the value those projects retain at resale in 102 U.S. markets. Year after year, siding replacement with fiber cement like James Hardie offers a very high ROI at resale. Click here to view Remodeling Magazines 2014 cost vs value report.

The return on re-siding your house with fiber cement is about 11% percent higher than that if you were to add a bathroom. So, if you’re looking for a high return on your investment, rather than adding another bathroom, or updating the kitchen, start with a project that will give your home a higher value. Start with what the home buyers will see first. The outside of the home.

James Hardie® products not only have beautiful lasting color and a durable  design, additionally they bring beautiful  design to your homes siding. If you’re looking for a siding that had durability as well as curb appeal, you’ve found the right product.

The great room features a gas fireplace to add warmth and ambiance to your home, as well as expansive windows. The great room is connected to the kitchen to allow for an open feeling in the home as well as allow light to flow freely throughout the living space, but it is also disconnected from the kitchen in that it has a plush carpet where the kitchen has gorgeous hardwood floors.

If you’re concerned about making the great room a little more intimate than an open floor plan usually allows for, push the thought out of your mind. Making intimate spaces in an open floor plan can be as easy as painting the rooms different colors and using furniture to separate the areas.

How to Determine what Home is Best for you and your Family

Here at Regency home we have various home designs to choose from in our Design Library. The key to good home design rests within 4 main design elements; entertaining, de-stressing, storing, and flexible living. Each of our home plans was designed with these principles in mind, but many homes have more attributes of one design element than the others. So, in order to determine which home is best for your family, rather than thinking about how you’d like your home to look, you should consider how you’d like your home to live. Before you start thinking about some of the more aesthetic attributes of your home, such as what kind of countertops you’d like in your kitchen or what paint you’d like to use in each room, you should start determining what home is best for you based on livability.

Here is an overview of the top 4 design elements that we use to help design your home.

Entertaining

Entertainment areas allow you to effortlessly carry on conversations throughout multiple spaces in your home. Entertainment areas in your home could include the following; a formal room for entertaining, an informal living space, outdoor ‘rooms’ and patios, kitchens with a center island (the center island encourages guest to gather around the snacks), media rooms, and game rooms.

De-stressing

If you need help alleviating some of the stress from your daily life, you may want to consider building a home with plenty of de-stressing spaces. These spaces could include the following; a private master suite, a walk-in shower or whirlpool, a porch, a crafting room, split vanities, mud rooms, and a drop zone to place keys, backpacks, briefcases, and other items.

To learn more about homes built with de-stressing in mind, take a look at our previous post ‘How to Carve Out Intimate Spaces in a Home with an Open Floor Plan‘ where you can read into what areas of a home can be built to create intimate spaces that allow you time and space to organize and ‘de-stress’ your life.

Storing

Finding enough storage space in your home should never be a problem. A well designed home will have multiple areas in which you can store items and organize your life. Some of the main storage areas that can be built into a home are; rear foyer storage, more space in the garage, over-sized bedroom closets, a walk-in pantry, linen closets, and additional areas in the basement or upper level.

To learn more about building a home with the proper storage spaces, take a look at our previous post ‘Building and Designing a New Home Tips and Tricks – Home Storage‘. In that post you will be given tips on how to design a home with plenty of storage space, as well as the benefits of doing so.

Flexible Living

Flexible living areas in a home are necessary if you’re planning on staying in your home for longer than 15 years. Children grow up, move out (and back in), parents stay to visit, a family member may need to come stay for an extended period of time, and in general, life happens. Building a flexible home ensures that you’re ready for just about anything. That office may seem like a great idea now, but in the future you may regret not adding a closet and window so that it can easily be converted into a bedroom.

Regency has made it easier to design a home with livability in mind. Designing a home can be very intimidating as it can be hard to visualize the finished home and how it will live. We’ve created a livability quiz that will help you determine which of the 4 main design elements are most important to you and your family.
