Now that the weather has warmed up, it’s time to get out and experience many of the events in Omaha this April. Easter features big this month with many celebrations taking place. In addition to all the Easter celebrations, there’s Junktoberfest and the Renaissance Faire. There’s something for everyone this April so get out and enjoy the warm weather!

First Friday Old Market

Held the first Friday of each month, 6-9pm, First Friday is a free event celebrating local creativity in our historic neighborhood. Visit galleries to explore fresh perspectives and meet the artists.

Eggstravaganza

An afternoon of Easter Fun! Includes activities for kids of all ages and a photo opp with the Easter Bunny (bring your camera)! Everyone who participates in the 2:30 p.m. Easter Bunny Events is welcome to stay and enjoy the Kroc Center until the facility closes at 6 p.m. Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel if you come for the Underwater Egg Hunt in the pool!

Spring Fling & Egg Hunt

Where: Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum

The Spring Fling begins at 10 a.m. with an outdoor egg hunt for toddlers to ten years of age. The museum has hands-on activities indoors until 12 p.m. The indoor activities include a picture with the Easter Bunny, face painting, coloring contest, kite building, and activities by KinderCare Learning Centers.

Block Party Exhibit

Build, stack, and create cities in this new special exhibit. Did you know block play is more than just fun for kids? Building and self-directed play helps children work on math skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Talk about play with purpose!

Easter Extravaganza at the Lauritzen Gardens
When: April 15th, 2017

The garden is the perfect venue to celebrate Easter with the family. Families can enjoy pictures with the Easter Bunny, candy-filled eggs, crafts and more at Easter Extravaganza. Fun and engaging crafts will be available from 9 to 11 a.m. with Easter egg hunts for children through 12 years of age at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. A separate egg hunt area will be designated for younger children.

Hop to the Movies
When: April 15th, 2017

Enjoy an Easter egg hunt in the theater at 9:30am, followed by photos with the Easter Bunny, and coloring and craft stations. Then settle in for a showing of Hop at 10am.

TREEmendous Arbor Day Celebration

Don’t miss a TREEmendous Arbor Day Celebration- a fun day dedicated to trees. Enjoy a variety of tree-themed educational activities designed for families to learn about a variety of tree topics. The first 100 households will receive a FREE tree seedling! This event is included with regular garden admission and is free for garden members. In the spirit of Nebraska’s homegrown holiday, children who dress like a tree will get in FREE!

Nebraska Renaissance Faire & Midlands Pirate Fest

Huzzah and welcome! The longest running weekend Renaissance festival in Nebraska (established in 2003 in Ashland, and formerly held at the Bellevue Berry Farm and River City Star Landing) will be at a new location this year and will once again  combine with the original Midlands Pirate Festival. Bring your friends and family out for two festivals in one – an edutainment celebration of 16th Century Europe and 18th Century Caribbean buccaneers.
